Modernizing the Grid in D.C.

We are excited to announce that HEET Founder and Co-Executive Director, Audrey Schulman, won the Advanced Energy Group’s Washington July Speaker Challenge on Grid Modernization. 

Audrey, along with four other speakers, presented pressing challenges to achieving Washington D.C.’s carbon and equity goals. HEET’s winning obstacle statement focused on the need for a data-based transition plan for D.C.

Participants then voted on a solution: identify the city’s energy needs and planned infrastructure upgrades producing the least cost and disruption. A dedicated working group, including stakeholders from the D.C. local water utility and public transit authority, will now collaborate for 12 -months to address HEET’s challenge statement.
