Senate Majority Leader Cindy Creem (D-Newton) and former Eversource executive Bill Akley were presented with HEET’s first ever Golden Geo award. The two were recognized for their Change Leadership excellence in helping to bring the thermal energy transition to prominence in the Commonwealth. Senator Creem has been a champion for the climate and has expressed her support time and again for geothermal energy-focused legislation. She is the champion of the recently signed climate bill that will bolster thermal initiatives in Massachusetts.

Under Bill Ackley’s leadership, Eversource Energy became the first utility in the country to pilot a networked thermal energy community. That project in Framingham is up and running and providing heat for families in businesses in the Commonwealth. Ackley demonstrated that the heretofore unthinkable–utility companies working with climate activists–was possible.
