$4 Million Approved for Merrimack Valley Geothermal Network

As part of Eversource’s purchase of Columbia Gas, a settlement fund was created to help the people affected by the Merrimack Valley gas disaster.
$4 million of this fund is earmarked for a geothermal network in the Merrimack Valley! The pilot must be located somewhere in North Andover, Andover, or Lawrence, and must be built and operational within four years.
The Attorney General's Office and the Department of Energy Resources will issue an RFP and run a competitive bidding process. Anyone can apply to win the money to install and operate the system.
