Fall Newsletter

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Summer edition of our newsletter! I have been reflecting on French Existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre and his profound idea that every individual action is a choice that has implications for the entire human race. In other words, when we choose, we choose for all mankind. After New England endured numerous 90-degree temperature days, I, like many others, chose to crank the air conditioning to whatever setting would offer the most relief. I don’t take this action lightly. It made me reflect on how I have moved beyond thinking of air conditioning as a luxury, or even as a necessity. Instead, I've come to believe that access to cooling is a fundamental human right (I’m not alone). My personal conviction isn't just about my comfort; it's a choice that reflects a universal ideal, aspiring to a world where this basic need is met for everyone.
In our increasingly warming world, reliable access to cooling isn't just about comfort; it's about safeguarding health, ensuring accessibility, and upholding the right to a safe living environment. Vulnerable populations, in particular, disproportionately bear the brutal impact of extreme heat, making equitable access to central air a pressing issue of justice.
This is why I am so excited about the promise of networked geothermal energy. Its inherent ability to provide both heating and cooling through a single, ambient loop offers a path towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
We begin the newsletter with a note from Zeyneb on the importance of reflection.
